Chad Kainz

Chad Kainz is the Senior Director for Academic Technologies within Networking
Services & Information Technologies at the University of Chicago. He has been
at Chicago for over ten years, starting as a Computer Graphics & Multimedia
Specialist in 1992, working his way up to Director of Instructional Technology
in 1998, and moving into his current role in 2002 which includes both IT
support and services for teaching and research.
Prior to his arrival at Chicago, he spent quite a bit of time in New Orleans
attending school, enjoying good food and music, and working in advertising,
commercial multimedia design, and IT consulting. In his "spare" time, he is
involved with international IT standards work and is currently the vice-chair
of the IEEE Learning Technology Standards Committee which recently released
its first standard, Learning Object Metadata (IEEE 1484.12.1).
