Robert Paterson

Dr. Robert Paterson has been in the Information Technology field since 1985. He began as a user support specialist, was promoted to Director of Academic Computing and then to Dean for Computing and Telecommunications at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. He has also been Executive Director of Information Technology at the University of San Francisco and Capital University in Columbus OH. Dr. Paterson has served on the Cause Current Issues committee, the Seminar for Academic Computing board and is currently Chair of ACM SIGUCCS. Dr. Paterson is presently Chief Information Officer at Salem State College, in Salem, MA, where he manages all phases of academic, telecommunication and administrative support including the successful implementation of an ERP product. He is also the college's chief planning officer and is responsible for the college-wide planning efforts. He has given numerous presentations and published a number of papers on various aspects of the field. Dr Paterson is an Avian Ecologist by training. He has published on bird habitat selection and taught a wide range of Biology courses for 10 years before transitioning to Information Technology.
